One of Central’s many musical and instrumental programs, the level 3 guitar and Flamenco Cuadro program had the special opportunity to perform on KVPR, station 89.3 on March 20th.

Level 3 advanced students from both East and West performed a Spanish Fandango and a piece by Beethoven. Flamenco Cuadro performed original ensemble guitar work written by Jose Antonio Rodriguez.

West Performing Arts teacher and guitar program director Brian Garcia said, “I am happy with the students’ performance. The experience really helps the student to learn to perform under many conditions and circumstances. This has helped in their overall composure and confidence during performances. My hope is that through the varied performance opportunities that the students will learn to embrace public performances and enjoy the experience of performing rather than being nervous or anxious. So far it seems to be working!”

Junior guitar student Justin Batieste said, “It was a good experience because I was able to deal with stress, actually perform and do well. It helped me perform better as a musician.”
